Name: Flora
Species: Syrian hamster
Sex: Female
Age: Unknown, guesstimate 1 year
Arrived: 17th Nov 2024
Status: Available for Adoption
Flora came into our care as part of a welfare case where a number of hamsters were being kept in unsuitable conditions.
On arrival Flora had a small abscess near her genitals which was successfully flushed out and treated with antibiotics, and has now disappeared. She also broke one of her bottom incisors which has quickly grown back without issue.
Flora is a happy, friendly, fairly confident girl who pops out of her hide in the early evening as soon as she hears us dishing out food, so we see plenty of her gorgeous face!
She happily takes food from hands and comes up to her enclosure door to see what you’re up to. She’s ok with calm handling but can be jumpy and like most hamsters, may test nip to tell you when she’s had enough, so isn’t suitable for handling by children.
Flora would do best housed in a barless enclosure as she has shown some bar climbing behaviour. She loves her multichamber hide so this is a must in her new home.
Minimum housing requirements: 100x50cm with at least 6 inches of safe substrate for burrowing, a multichamber hide, 28cm or larger wheel, sand bath and plenty of enrichment.
Adoption fee: Minimum £15 donation
